Zentyal is a Linux small business server that can be configured as a gateway, infrastructure manager, unified threat manager, office server, unified communication server or a combination of them. All network services managed by Zentyal are tightly integrated, automating most tasks. This saves time and helps to avoid errors in network configuration and administration.
The Wiki has a fair amount of documentation and How-To's. It is a good starting resource. The Wiki is searchable: type in a few keywords, and you will get pages of documentation that often answer your questions and can help you solve problems. It is good to have the knowledge to install and make the initial configuration of Zentyal Server, but it is also essential to know how to maintain the server. I've just upgraded a Zentyal instance from 4.1 to 5.0.1. After upgrade, SOGo doesn't let users log in anymore. Unfortunately, there are no instructions as to how to remove it. What I did to remove the software was this: I removed the zentyal PPA and ran sudo apt-get remove zentyal-* But now, network manager doesn't work any more, and my system doesn't get DHCP assigned addresses. That sounds a bit uncharitable; Zentyal has worked well for me for a few years and it's a good distro for the niche. But it's lots of things glued together in ways that aren't necessarily transparent; so once you need to change something, you can get a bit unstuck. Similarly, upgrades - either to the OS or Zentyal itself - can prove problematic.
